Teenagers using spreadsheets

Teenagers could use spreadsheets in their daily lives to list schoolwork that is due each day and to keep up with their grades.
Teens could also create spreadsheets to list their daily schedules for school activities and other events that they have.
Many teens have daily chores to do at home and keeping a list of these on a spreadsheet would help them remember what to do each day.

Cyberbullying Tips

If I had a friend who was being cyberbullied I would first tell them to report it to their parent, teacher, or to an officer of the law. Then I would let my friend know that I would be there for her and support her any way I could. It is important that my friend knows that being cyberbullied was not her fault. I would tell my friend to stay away from sites that allowed someone to bully her, and stay close to friends that she can trust. Cyberbullying is wrong and I would tell my friend to use her voice to help others who have been cyberbullied.

Communicating Through Technology

I believe communicating through technology such as emails and text is impersonal because you lose the personal touch that you would have when you speak to someone in person.  Unfortunately, this is the way things are now.  I also believe that students writing skills have suffered because of technology.  Many schools now use iPads and computers to teach their lessons, therefore students are not writing as much as they used to.  Also, students text each other when they have something they want to say, or send an email.  Technology has changed the way we do everything. Most changes are for the better, but some are not.

Safety of Personal Information Online

It seems like a different company is being hacked every day.  Just recently, according to the New York Times, Home Depot suffered a major hack where more than 60 million customers credit card information was obtained.  This is not acceptable.  These companies want our business and our money, but it seems they do not want to spend the extra money to make sure our personal and financial information is kept private and safe.  Home Depot even delayed telling its customers of the breach, which to me is cowardly.  I realize using a credit card is an easy way to purchase items, but I think from now on I will be using cash. http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/09/08/home-depot-confirms-that-it-was-hacked/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

Internet Safety Laws

It's hard to believe there are currently no laws or rules that govern the Internet, as there are laws and rules for everything in our lives.  I do think there should be some form of laws in place to govern the Internet and what people can and cannot do.  A person's personal and private information can be obtained on multiple sites, and I believe that this is not only an invasion of privacy, but dangerous as well.  However, there are times when information posted to a site on the Internet has helped recover a lost child, or capture a criminal.  I would have to say laws are good, but at the same time can prevent good from happening.

About Taylor

I am a SCVCS student and I am taking my first course in Computer Literacy. I have a basic knowledge of computers , but I can usually figure out what to do by just trying something over and over. I have already learned how to set up a blog, and I am excited to learn much more.
